Namesake: Spotsie got her name at the moment of her birth and we could think of no other name more fitting!
I had been waiting for Araucano to give me a black girl cria. Spotsie had my hopes up when I saw her dark ears and front feet being born. But Araucano was lying down in some discomfort as she was trying to deliver Spotsie. At over 19 pounds, Spotsie was kinda stuck at her shoulders. I held the front feet during the next contraction and that was enough resistance for Araucano to push Spotsie out into the world - a rather cold October world. After a little towel drying and blow drying, Spotsie was ready to go. I put on a cria coat and off she went to be with her mother and the other alpacas.
Spotsie is currently living here at Hollyhock Farm.
