Name: RubyARI#: 840343 Birthdate: October 14, 2002 Parents: Embrace and Lexx Namesake: Ruby is named in honor of Teresa's great aunt. Embrace was pregnant with Ruby when we bought Embrace, so we had an idea of when Embrace was due. I remember it being very cold the day Ruby was born. She was maybe an hour or so old when I saw her. She was the first to be born here when it was cold and my first cria to blow dry and warm up. This was also Embrace's first cria and she didn't seem to have enough milk - at least that was our rookie conclusion. We tried bottle feeding Ruby, but she was probably getting enough from Embrace when we weren't looking. She had no interest in the bottle. And she gained weight and grew up just fine - so I think Embrace knew best! After having 2 crias for us, in the spring of 2007, we sold Ruby to Vesta Luna Farms - about 30 miles away. She had two more crias at her new home, but sadly passed away of unknown causes in the spring of 2009. She is missed on both farms. |
