Name: PelasiaARI#: 1012958 Birthdate: October 18, 2003 Parents: Araucano and Pperuvian Omar Namesake: For many months, we were not sure if Pelasia would be with us very long, so we didn't name her right away. Darryl's brother suggested Pelasia, which means pearl in Polish, and is in honor of their Aunt Pearl. Pelasia was delivered into my arms - a sparkling white bundle. Within the first 24 hours of her life, we came to realize she was born with no 'external plumbing'. We took her to a vet who immediately performed a life-saving surgery. For the next 8 months we tried numerous procedures to keep her alive and try to give her some quality of life. The following June, she had her final surgery - a newly constructed backside! And it WORKED! She has been able to live a relatively normal life ever since! Pelasia is living here at Hollyhock Farm. We will not risk breeding her, so she is our special fiber girl. |
