Name: CarleyARI#: 31185172 Birthdate: May 16, 2008 Parents: Embrace and Vagabond Namesake: The name Carley K is a combination of Darryl's aunt and uncle's names, Carol and Stanley. Embrace is one of those Moms who usually doesn't make a big deal out of delivering a cria. There are few outward signs, until a cria is on the ground. But Carley was different. The day she was born, I could tell Embrace was in labor when I did morning chores. So I made preparations - got the towels and blow dryer ready, swept the hay and dirt off the carpeting in a small pen in the barn. A couple hours later, Carley's head appeared. With the temptation of a little feed, Embrace came inside the little pen and soon delivered Carley. I got Carley dry and made sure she was nursing and then left Mom and cria to get to know each other for a few hours before I let them out into the world! Carley is currently living here at Hollyhock Farm. |
