Wrist warmers ready for spring

Posted March 15th, 2010 by Teresa and filed in Uncategorized

I’ve got a bunch of wrist warmers ready to dress your wrists for spring!  I have these that sparkle.

Sparkly

Sparkly

They have little sparkles mixed in the yarn.   Bright blue, dark pink and maroon.  Plain edge or frilly.

These are soft squishy solid colored.

Solid colors

Lime green and eggplant purple.  Frilly or plain.

These are multi-colored, called marled.

In color combinations of red/dark red/green, green/gray, orange/pink/green, and green/bright green/yellow green.   Both plain and frilly edged.   I finally got enough ahead making these that I kept a pair of the red/green ones for me.  I LOVE them!  They are warm and cozy, but don’t get in the way.    Other than the sparkly stuff, all are 100% alpaca.

Still making mittens

Here are this week’s mittens:

Mittens, again...

Mittens, again...

3 pair in brown.  While knitting these, the sun was shining on this yarn and there is a sparkly-ness to it.  It didn’t come out in the picture at all, but they are actually kinda pretty – for brown mittens.

After friends stopped by, I noticed this:

Cool tracks!

Cool tracks!

Their tires tracks had formed these hearts in the snow/mud.  I suppose it is a common pattern to make, but I had never seen it quite like this.  Darryl must have snapped the pictures as I found them on the camera!

I got crazy and knit up a whole bunch of wrist warmers.  About 1800 yards of yarn, 27 pair of wrist warmers !  I’m slowly in the process of steaming and seaming!  I hope to get some posted on Etsy soon.

Last night was the first Knitting Night Out at the Delightful Day Boutique in Becker.   The group was small – only 3 of us knitters – but we enjoyed each others company and made progress on knitting projects.

Accomplishments on retreat

First – I knit these 2 pair of mittens.

They will be finished by another gal in my knitting group.  I have a total of 7 pair to turn over to her tomorrow at our monthly meeting.

Last weekend was my spinning guild’s retreat at the Linden Hills mansion.  I spun and knit and ate and relaxed.  It was awesome.  I spun this huge skein from the fiber of Ruby.

Hand spun alpaca yarn

Hand spun alpaca yarnThis set was started before the retreat, but I finished the scarf and got the hat to the point of steaming. Brown set of alpaca yarn

After steaming, the hat will get ear flaps added.  The mittens need to be felted yet.

While on the retreat, I seamed the wristwarmers and mittens, knit the scarf and started the hat.   The hat will be blue with brown stripes.

The hat will be an ear flap hat.  These mittens will also be felted.  These 2 sets are part of a custom order.

Here’s my newest addition to my Etsy store.

First – my grocery / project / carry-anything bag!

My bag

My bag

It doesn’t look like much until it is filled with something.  I stuffed a couple little pillows in it.

Stuffed bag

It stretches, but the crochet cotton is so strong, I think it could carry groceries.  I can’t wait to try it out!

This set is almost finished.  I have to felt the mittens yet.

But then it will be mailed off to its destination, so I thought I would show you this – incase I forget to photograph the felted mittens.  Next set – scarf, mittens, wristwarmers, and hat from yarn I’ll dye with walnut husks!

Week 2 – wrap up

Posted October 19th, 2009 by Teresa and filed in Uncategorized

I think last week was pretty successful.   Here’s the breakdown:

Soap – 15 bars felted – success!   (7 bars sold!)

Ladies mittens - 4 pair knit, none complete – partial success

Baby hats – 4 complete, 2 partially complete – success!

Wristwarmers  – 24 pair on the shelf – success!

Wrist warmers all in a row

Wrist warmers all in a row

That was a good week!

Week Three’s Schedule:

Monday – 15 felted cat toys  (these are now available in my Etsy shop!)

Tuesday – dedicated to baby hats

Wednesday – 5 pair of toddler sized mittens

Thursday – work on ladies mittens

Friday & Saturday – 11 pair of baby socks to match hats and blankets

Sunday – Finish the ladies mittens

That means that the cat toys, toddler mittens, baby socks and ladies mittens should all be done by week’s end.   The ladies mittens will be a challenge (as I need to dye yarn for them), but the others should be do-able!   This is the week of completion!
