My first ever give-away contest!
I want to let you know, I’ve been featured on a blog and have offered a prize for a give-away. All the rules are in the blog post at A Handmade Revolution. Read the post (although I’m not sure I deserve all the praise) and follow the instructions for getting in on the drawing. Here’s the prize:
One of my bird nesting material cages. Thanks for participating and best of luck in the contest!
Back to the future
Making more mittens! I got 2 pair knit yesterday.
I can’t say they are exciting – or even pretty, but they should keep some little boys fingers warm next winter if he forgets to wear mittens to school one day. I needed to get back in touch with my knitting machine!
Tomorrow we plan to take Sonny and Rolly to Pioneer Village in Zimmerman from about 10 – 3. It is a festival sponsored by Faith Community Lutheran Church. Kathe and I will be spinning and we’ll have yarn and things for sale. There is also music, food, volleyball and lots more going on. Stop by see us if you can. The weather looks to be outstanding!
More crias on the way
What is better to do on a hot sunny day than just soak up some rays? That is just what Spotsie is doing – enjoying the sun and baking the little ‘bun in the oven’!
Not to be out done, Embrace is showing off her baby bump, too.
And these are too cute not to share. Caramelita of Sawtooth Star!
Wet behind the ears!
It’s been a long time between posts. Shepherd’s Harvest was great fun as usual. The fashion show on Saturday afternoon was in a great new venue – the band-shell at the fairgrounds. We had a stage, lights, and a new sound system. Here are some of the girls modeling my things:
I’m looking forward to planning an even better fashion show next year.
After Shepherd’s Harvest, I was barely caught up with things on the home-front when…..
we found this. Not more than 15 minutes old. Honie who is owned by Sawtooth Star Alpacas gave birth to this little girl at 6 PM! The first evening baby ever born on our farm. We dried her and got her up and around within a few hours.
A beautiful surprise! She is named Vagabond’s Caramelita.
The Hollyhock babies are coming! Three round tummies are the evidence! Due in about a month, all three crias should be born close together!
Getting ready for Shepherd’s Harvest
OR:
The great migration! I feel like I’m moving out! I have so much stuff to pack into our car for the trip to Shepherd’s Harvest. I have to leave at 7 AM tomorrow to get the fleeces checked in for judging, so things have been lining up for days. Here’s a condensed run-down:
My fleeces: 3 bagged for show, 5 bagged for sale, 1 ready to deliver for processing.
Plus 6 fleeces to bring for the show for Glacial Ridge Alpacas.
2 tote bins containing items for sale in the retail booth: 32 skeins of newly dyed yarn, a bunch more skeins of hand spun or commercial spun from my animals. felted soap, hats, scarfs, bird nesting material cages, roving, a shawl, mittens, purses, and more!
2 milk crates holding felting kits and felting refill kits
Another tote bin of miscellaneous stuff: needle felting demo stuff, fiber arts competition entries, scale, fashion show information and everything else I think I might need!
I’ve yet to pack a suitcase for me, plus my backpack with laptop, teapot, mug, phone charger and all that stuff! Oh – and I might have time to knit, gotta bring that!
So if you are anywhere near Lake Elmo, MN – you MUST come to Shepherd’s Harvest. Bring your Mom. You are sure to find a great Mother’s Day gift for her! See you there!
